Mary Borrego is an associate with Hicks Davis Wynn.  Her practice encompasses complex commercial disputes, products liability, personal injury, employment, real estate, construction, and contract actions. Mary has represented clients in the automotive, oil and gas, renewable energy, public utility, manufacturing, and construction industries in state and federal courts, as well as arbitration.

During law school, Mary trained as a student attorney in the UH Law Entrepreneurship and Community Development Clinic, assisting small business owners in a variety of matters to help them develop and grow their operations.  She honed her advanced advocacy skills on the National Moot Court Competition Team—defeating teams from around the country and winning the annual National Health Law Moot Court Competition.  Mary also had the distinction of interning for the Honorable Judge George C. Hanks, Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and Judge Mike Englehart in the 151st Civil District Court in Harris County, Texas.

Before pursuing a legal career, Mary worked as a landman, and later, as a senior paralegal at a Houston area law firm.  Her unique work and life experience helped her develop a conscientious approach to litigation.  From the beginning, Mary works through a case with the detail necessary to take it all the way to trial, while keeping her client’s business needs and goals in mind. To Mary, the operative thought is “how does this help my client?”  Her dedication has led to a wide degree of success—advantageously resolving cases through trial, mediation, arbitration, summary judgment, and appeal.
