Exclusive: Three partners leave law firm to form new Houston practice

Three lawyers from the Houston office of a regional law firm have left to form their own civil litigation practice.

Pamela Hicks, Scott Davis and Forrest Wynn have left partner positions at Beirne, Maynard and Parsons LLP to form Hicks Davis Wynn P.C., which opened its doors in Greenway Plaza on June 1, Hicks told the Houston Business Journal. The firm will also include two staff.

HDW is bringing some of its client list over, as well. Some of its clients include CenterPoint Energy, ConocoPhillips, Siemens, Weatherford and AIG, the trio told the HBJ. The plan is to remain a boutique firm rather than a large one, focusing on the existing clients that it has, for now.

“Our goal is to expand as client needs require,” Wynn said. “We don’t want to expand too quickly, but we don’t want to lose opportunities either.”

The new law firm will focus on commercial litigation, real estate litigation and personal injury in several industries including aerospace, health care, oil and gas, insurance, construction and professional services, according to a statement.

HDW operates out of roughly 5,000 square feet of sublet space in Greenway Plaza. It declined to name which company it was subletting the space from.

“(Beirne, Maynard and Parsons) was the perfect place for us all to practice for a long time. We wanted to take the practices from that firm and create a law firm on our strengths and skills. The three of us have a common vision of what we want for our lives and law practices,” Hicks said.
